How to Take the Kosodate Shien-in Training (Tokyo Version)
1. Check the Training Announcement
Training schedules, locations, application periods, and capacity limits are posted on the websites of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government or the designated training organizations.
Examples of training providers:
Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for Social Welfare and Public Health,
Tokyo Council of Social Welfare, etc.
After checking the announcement, choose the course that matches your goals.The Kosodate Shien-in training is divided into several courses depending on the type of work you want to do.
Course examples:
- Community Childcare Course 地域保育コース
- Temporary Childcare Course
- Childcare Support Center Course
- After-school Club Course
If you want to work in a nursery school, choose the Community Childcare Course 地域保育コース.
This course teaches the basic knowledge and skills needed to support childcare in nursery schools.
2. Apply for the Training
The application method depends on the training provider, but generally includes:
- Online application form
- Email application
- Postal mail application
Fill in the required information (name, address, contact details, desired course, etc.) and submit your application.
3. Receive the Acceptance Notice
If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, a lottery may be held.
Once accepted, you will receive a notification by email or postal mail
4. Attend the Training
In Tokyo, lectures are offered either online or in person.
In-person sessions may include group discussions and hands-on CPR practice.
You will learn topics such as:
- Child development
- Safety and health
- Support for parents
- Childcare support systems
- Many other basic childcare concepts
Most programs combine online lectures with in-person practical sessions.
5. Participate in the Observation Practicum (Practical Training)
To confirm what you learned in the lectures, you will spend two days experiencing licensed nursery schools in Japan and observing or assisting with infant and toddler care.
Flow of the Observation practicum
- You will receive a “report sheet” in advance
- The sheet lists the items you must observe
- You fill it out during the visit and submit it afterward
Examples of what you write in the report
- Safety measures (accident prevention)
- Contents of the nursery’s communication letter (園だより)
- Daily childcare schedule
- Number of children by age group
- How childcare workers move and speak to children
- Children’s behavior and the play environment
*The report must be written in Japanese.Many foreign participants take extensive notes in pencil during the observation days and then translate their notes into Japanese at home to complete the report.
6. Receive Your Certificate
After completing all required components—lectures, practical sessions, and observation practicum—you will receive a Kosodate Shien-in (Tokyo) Certificate.
With this certificate, you can work at nursery schools, childcare support centers, temporary childcare services, after-school programs, and other childcare-related facilities throughout Japan.
The OBP Academy’s Recruitment Department provides job placement support for foreign Kosodate shien-ins. If you work as an English teacher and childcare staff, you can often receive a higher salary.

研修の受講方法（東京都の場合）
1. 募集案内を確認する
東京都または研修実施機関のホームページで、研修日程・会場・申込期間・定員などが公開されます。
例：東京都福祉保健財団、東京都社会福祉協議会 などが実施。
募集案内を確認し、自分に合ったコースを選びます。
子育て支援員研修は、目的に応じて複数のコースに分かれています。
- 地域保育コース
- 一時預かりコース
- 地域子育て支援拠点コース
- 放課後児童クラブコース
保育園で働きたい人は「地域保育コース」を選択します。
このコースでは、保育園での保育補助に必要な知識と技能を学びます。
2. 申し込みを行う
申込方法は実施機関によって異なりますが、一般的には以下のいずれかです。
必要事項（氏名・住所・連絡先・希望コースなど）を記入して申し込みます。
3. 受講決定通知を受け取る
定員を超える場合は抽選になることがあります。
受講が決定すると、メールまたは郵送で通知が届きます。
4. 研修を受講する
東京都の研修では講義はオンラインまたは対面です。
対面はグループディスカッションや心肺蘇生法の実践などがあります。

5. 見学実習（実地見学）に参加する
講義で学んだ内容を実際の現場で確認するため、 2日間、日本の認可保育園などに行き、乳幼児のお世話を体験します。
見学実習の流れ
- 事前に「レポート用紙」が配布される
- 何を観察するべきか項目が書かれている
- 見学しながら記入し、後日提出する
レポートに書く内容の例
- 安全対策（事故防止の工夫）
- 園だよりの内容
- 一日の保育プログラム
- 年齢ごとの園児数
- 保育者の動きや声かけ
- 子どもの様子や遊びの環境
6. 修了証を受け取る
講義・演習・見学実習のすべてを修了すると、「子育て支援員（東京都）」として認定される修了証が発行されます。
この修了証があれば、全国の保育園・子育て支援センター・一時預かり・学童などで働くことができます。
